[edit]Why does a town of under 10K have the Canadian cities template? We should develop a version of the county template for Nova Scotia towns? WayeMason 00:09, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
How about this? Template:Nova_Scotia_Town WayeMason 02:39, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Schools section Propsal
[edit]I think that there should be a "Local Schools" section, listing the current schools, and another listing schools that used to be in the area. Example:
Schools in Amherst
[edit]- Amherst Regional High
- E. B. Chandler JHS
- Spring St. Academy
- West Highlands Elementary School
[add more here if nescessary]
Past Schools in Amherst
[edit]- R. B. Dickey School
- St. Charles School
- (Former) Amherst Regional High[1]
- Acadia Street School
[add more here if nescessary]
- ^ The Old ARHS was located at Academy St., Amherst, NS.

Don't forget Acadia Street School as well -- Pbfurlong 14:11, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
Good point, User:Pbfurlong, actually, how about having it standard across at least Nova Scotian communities? And also, why doesn't somebody mention the Amherst Murals Project? -- Mark seymour 19:00, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Notable Natives
[edit]Why are people constantly adding themselves to the list of notable natives of Amherst? Is it all just vandalism? Also, someone keeps adding Christian Cardell Corbet to the list. This person, who may be an artist (I'm just going with what's on their page), constantly ends up with their name posted in the list. By reading their article, however, it looks like he was not only born elsewhere, but he grew up somewhere other than Amherst. The only connection that I can read on either his Wikipedia page or his website is that he created paintings of Robert B. Dickey and Charles Tupper, both of whom are Fathers of Confederation and connected to Amherst. What gives? Pbfurlong 11:56, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Again with the notable natives. I removed George Baker which was put up today. IT was not directed to a specific George Baker, however neither Canadian George Baker is from Amherst, Nova Scotia. It took me literally three minutes to reference where both are actually from. The first being from Quebec and the second being from Newfoundland. Please people do some research before randomly posting a name because your grandmother thinks they're from Amherst. JacobTwo 03:46, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:NS-Flag.png
[edit]Image:NS-Flag.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The Amherst Mural Project
[edit]Should the Amherst Mural Project be mentioned in the article, or does it constitute a new article? Or a bit of information on it and then go on it in detail in a new article? --Ampersand2006 talk 14:33, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Photos for the article
[edit]Right at the moment I'm in Truro, Nova Scotia and I'll be heading back home to Amherst this Friday, so I was just thinking that I could possibly get some photos from around the town and release them under a CC license.
That said, what landmarks or buildings would be fine for the article?
So far, I'm thinking about retaking the First Baptist Church photo, since it seems to be a little too bright and my camera can take sharper and more clear images. Also, I was thinking of the new façade of the Amherst Stadium, and the train station. Any thing else that I should look into? My flickr page is at http://flickr.com/photos/markseymour/ for those who are interested (I do not have a pro account, so I am unable to upload until May.)

- I've uploaded a photo of the First Baptist Church and edited the article to include it. I will process the RAW that I took along with it, and then replace it later, hopefully the photo won't look as dull. azure talk × contribs 22:58, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Recent changes
[edit]I have made some changes to the article.
- The 'skyline' image and description has been changed from the Nova Scotia Information/Welcome Centre to a photo of Downtown Amherst. I may try to get a better photo before I go back to Truro next week.
- I uploaded a cleaner version of the town's Crest/logo as a low-res jpg. I may attempt to convert it to SVG with the larger version that I have (gotten from the town for a web project.)
If anyone feels that the article should use the Welcome Centre At Dusk photo for the top of the article, please feel free to revert it. :)

youth sports
[edit]I have flagged the Youth Sports section for cleanup, there appears to be no sources and it is poorly written. 99.251.250.206 (talk) 05:48, 1 February 2011 (UTC)1234man
